Poet, Teacher, Actor presents, "A Poem A Day"
"Andrew Brown wrote his first poem at age 15. He has been writing, more or less, ever since. Andrew is a retired teacher of English, Drama, and Creative Writing and an active writer and actor. He is the author of three books all produced by Gravity Press, "Crow's First Word" in 2008, "The Stone Inside a Man's Heart" in 2013 and his latest collection "Shadow Road" in 2016. He has been published in several literary journals in Canada and the USA but has chosen to self publish his own books.
In his work, he mines the depth of experience found in the everyday moment. He sources his materials from a wide range of places including events of the world, other writers, but chiefly from the layers of memory, dream, reflection, and experience from his own life.
In this workshop, Andrew will share his method for creating a life of engagement with the written word. He will demonstrate how it is possible to write each day with techniques of getting down to work, exercises to stimulate imagination, and a unique approach to journal writing. This workshop would be helpful for anyone from the interested novice to people who have already been involved with writing but have encountered blockages and interruptions to the work. Come and join Andrew for a fast paced and lively workshop. Cost is $40. Light refreshments will be served. Bring pen, pencil and notebook and join the fun."
