pARTy: Youth Art Drop-in Night

Teens from the Gallery's Code Switching collective are hosting another evening of art making for youth in Nanaimo! Learn how to upcycle old clothes with iron-on artworks, transform drawings and photographs into wearable buttons, and learn a few new Hul'qumi'num words with rock painting. This is a great way to meet like-minded teens. Full snack bar provided!



Youth Speak: Collaborative Teen Mural Project

Calling local teens who are curious, creative and collaborative! In partnership with Bookfest 2018, award-winning writer David A. Robertson and illustrator Scott B. Henderson are teaming up to offer a workshop. Learn to communicate ideas through writing and illustration and work together to create a vibrant graphic style mural that will be showcased downtown.



Code Switching - Pop-Up Show

Come celebrate the work of emerging artists! Teens from Code Switching will take over Art Lab for an exhibition that considers: How Can We Speak Differently? Since September, this dedicated group of teens has studied contemporary art practices, embarked on excursions, participated in artist-led workshops, and developed their own work. This year end exhibition will feature their explorations in sculpture, photography, video, creative writing and sound art.
