At Rebel Mountain Press we are passionate about literacy, especially for youth. That is why in 2015 we started In Our Own Teen Voice for Vancouver Island teens in grades 8-12. In partnership with Vancouver Island Regional Library, and Partner in Learning with Vancouver Island University, the annual In Our Own Teen Voice writing contest and book anthology gives a voice to the amazing talent of our Island’s young writers about issues that matter to them.
With themes ranging from self-identity, family, friends and relationships, sports, bullying, belonging, stress, depression, loss, to gender identity, sexual orientation, love, passion, courage, hope, and making a change, In Our Own teen Voice is written by teens, for teens, and can be enjoyed by readers of all ages.
The anthology also features the annual first-place winner of the Islands Short Fiction Contest: youth
category.
There is no entry fee for submissions and the deadline is March 31, 2018. For more information and submission guidelines: www.inourownvoice.com
